A place so full of history can offer various options to whom is interested. Everybody knows that Caprera and the community of La Maddalena welcomed the " hero of two worlds" Giuseppe Garibaldi for his exile, which he strongly wanted to spend in Caprera. "Casa Bianca" was his house for 27 years until his death and is open to the public, as well as the other museum dedicated to the hero, at Forte Arbuticci, that offers an interactive and multimedia intinerary. It was opened in 2011 to coincide the 150th anniversary of the unity of Italy.
The diocesan museum instead, bears witness of many illustrious characters who lived in La Maddalena. Among all Admiral Nelson, who stayed here 7 years on the hunt of Napoleon and Napoleon himself, who tried to conquer the island without success. As an example of this attempt there are two forts, San Vittorio and Sant'Andrea, from where the Royal Sardinian Navy, led by Domenico Millelire, achieved victory. Lastly, the industrial and geological past of the island are investigated in the Geomineralogical Naturalistic Museum in Stagnali (Caprera).
